Color Theory

  1. Define hue: It is the most accurate term to refer to the pure spectrum of colors.
  2. Define value: It is the brightness/darkness of a specific color
  3. Define saturation: It is an image's color intensity.
  4. How many colors are available on our computers?
  5. Define secondary color: They are colors that are created by combining primary colors.
  6. Define tertiary color: They are colors that are created by combining both primary and secondary colors. 
  7. Define complementary colors: These are the colors that are opposite of each other on the color wheel and typically work well together side by side, but when they are combined they cancel each other out.

    Color Gamut: It is the range of colors for each specific device. The monitor's color gamut it the better than the other device's

  8. What are the primary colors in Photoshop? Red, Green and Blue.
  9. What are the secondary colors in Photoshop? Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow.
  10. Define subtractive color model: It is produced by light sources.
  11. Define additive color model: They are produced when light strikes the surfaced and some of the light is absorbed. 
  12. Is RGB additive or subtractive? Additive
  13. What is the CYYK color model used for? Printing
  14. Define analogous colors: They're a group of 3 colors that are next to each other on the color wheel.
  15. Define tint: The mixture of any color with white.
  16. Define shade: The mixture of any color with black.
  17. Define neutral: Colors that usually don't show up on the color wheel, such as; black, white, gray, brown and beige
  18. Define monochromatic: Containing or using only one color. 
  19. What can be said in general about warm colors?They are said to be more advance and appear more active in paintings. They are also said to stimulate the viewers in fashion and interior design. 
  20. What can be said in general about cool colors? They are said to be not as advanced as warm colors and recede in paintings. They also calm and relax viewers in fashion and interior design. 
  21. Which color is associated with stability? Blue
  22. Which color symbolizes royalty? Purple
  23. Which is the color of cleanliness? White 
  24. Which color symbolism freshness? Green
  25. Which colors are associated with joy? Orange and Yellow
  26. Which color symbolizes passion and danger? Red
